How Commoditization Impacts Everyone

The most common question insurance buyers ask their agents is: "Why should I buy this insurance when the price is higher than other options?"

So many insurance agents have fallen into the commoditization / price player trap. But when price becomes the primary, if not the only differentiator in the insurance buying process, everyone suffers. Carriers fail to be rewarded for their investments in specialty expertise and service. Agents are beaten by less qualified competitors. And clients suffer the even more. They are likely buying an insurance program that is inadequate for their needs, simply because it's the lowest price.

In this session, you'll learn how to avoid the price player trap and elevate the service you provide by:

  • Learning to address the critical insurance buyer's question, "Why should I buy from you with a higher price?"
  • Understanding how all stakeholders can and should push back against the commoditization of insurance buying
  • Leveraging improved outcomes to retain accounts through effective measurements

You May Think You Know Everything About Certs. Not So Fast...

Issuing a certificate of insurance is a basic function, so of course you know how to do it. But are you doing it accurately and without any risk of a future E&O claim?

The truth is, this critical, yet basic process continues to confuse and frustrate insurance professionals both new and seasoned. Improperly handled certificate of insurance requests can result in dissatisfied customers, errors and omissions claims, and fines if state certificate of insurance laws are violated.

In this session, we'll be reviewing best practices for issuing a certificate of insurance, including understanding:

  • What you need to know about the disclaimers contained in the certificate
  • Expectations of the insured and certificate holder regarding certificates
  • Agent misconceptions
  • Dos and don'ts of completing a certificate

The Future is Specialization - Learn how to find your niche(s) and grow

Now, more than ever, insurance buyers and risk managers are demanding to work with agents who understand their specific industry, business, and challenges. Increasingly, agents without niche expertise struggle to compete in a marketplace with changing buying habits, increasing expectations, and emerging technology platforms.

Developing niche expertise is one of the most effective paths to differentiation and sustainable, profitable growth. In this session, you will learn how to develop and leverage insights into the industry-specific and rapidly changing risks your clients face.

Digital Shift: How The New Age of Insurance Will Affect You

Insurance is in a state of digital transformation, influencing and impacting the way we operate and service our customers. It is imperative to understand this change and embrace the power of transformative technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) to advance in this digital era.

Deb Smallwood will be sharing the latest research on digital transformation trends and adoption as well as specific use cases. In addition, she'll be providing strategic insights, pragmatic advice, and actionable plans you'll be able to use in your business.

Participants will walk away excited rather than afraid of the changes happening in our industry through:

  • An understanding of transformational technologies with a focus on AI
  • Increased clarity for business and technology strategies
  • Improved prioritization for initiatives and investment by viewing them through a transformation lens

Creating a Customer Centric Culture

As business leaders and service providers, some of our most critical goals are revenue growth, customer retention, and high employee engagement. We know that a culture of customer centricity, or putting your customers at the core of everything you do, significantly and positively impacts these three areas.

The trickledown effect of customer centricity transforms operations into a driver of new business growth and retention. In this session, we'll show you how you can build your culture and come away with a clear idea of:

  1. Impact of a customer-centric approach to your bottom line
  2. Imbedding culture into operations
  3. Measuring, maintaining and improving customer centricity

Not many people want to talk about insurance, no matter how critical it is. While insurance buyers should know or want to know the risks they face, due to increased demands on their time and focus, they often say, "Just bring me a quote." Most agents follow the buyer's lead and fail to engage them in a risk assessment process. Leaving prospects and clients at risk is not a winning strategy.

We'll teach you how to pivot the conversation and engage buyers for a differentiated insurance experience:

  • Pique curiosity and cut through the distractions, engaging buyers into the risk assessment process
  • Transform risk management and insurance buying from an event into an ongoing process
  • Identify and address potential catastrophic financial risks that are pervasive in almost every business

Risks for Health Plan Costs Are Rising – Are You Ready?

As health care costs continue to rise, the market has responded with alternative rating plans for small and mid-sized employers. Sounds good, right? Not so fast. Bringing down the cost of health care coverage is a good thing, no doubt. But agents need to understand and communicate fiduciary risk that business owners may incur with the reduced cost. Moreover, they need to understand how they can help mitigate that risk with some smart risk transfer.

In this session, you'll learn:

  • What's driving these increased risks
  • How catastrophic, uncovered risks can occur with alternative rating plans
  • How to partner with P&C colleagues to mitigate risk by transferring it

Sick of slogging along with a slow-moving project? Maybe it's time to try a Design Sprint. This concept, first tested in Google Ventures, helps fast-forward projects with laser-like focus over five days. According to Harvard Business Review, the Design Sprint method encourages crisp decision-making and "helps teams get more done and move faster."

To introduce this concept now used by almost every tech or development organization out there, author and Design Sprint expert Douglas Ferguson will share case studies and show you how to apply this effective methodology to challenges and projects that need turbo-charging in your organization.
